Massage
I offer a combination of massage techniques: Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Acupressure, Myofascial Release and Sports. My education at Sister Rosalind Gefre’s School of Professional Massage has also included massage and disabilities, massage and pregnancy, massage and the abused.
Deep Tissue Massage
This involves slow strokes and deep pressure on areas of the body suffering from chronic muscle tension or areas that feel contracted. Deep Tissue is effective for back pain.
Neuromuscular Massage
This is also known as trigger point therapy. This technique applies concentrated pressure on the muscle belly, starving the muscle of oxygen for a short period of time, bringing fresh blood and nutrients to the muscles to help aid relaxation.
Swedish Massage
This includes the following: Effleurage (gliding.) Petrissage (lifting, pressing, squeezing.) Friction (rubbing two surfaces across one another.) Tapotement and vibration. Benefits of Massage · Improves circulation. · Relaxes the muscles. · Improves joint mobility. · Induces general relaxation. · Promotes healthy skin. · Creates a sense of wellbeing.
What can I expect during a Massage Therapy Session?
Firstly, I will ask you to complete a health questionnaire, and then we will discuss your particular needs. I encourage good communication during the session. You will be fully draped with sheets and a blanket and I will play relaxing music. You may decide what amount of clothing you prefer to wear for the session.I offer a choice of Waleda massage oils and aromatherapy.
